Alanna Gurr & The Greatest State

Guelph based Alanna Gurr and The Greatest State is gearing up to release her third album Stand Still (MCR-009) June 16th 2017. 

Alanna co-produced the album with bandmate Thomas Hammerton (of Cuff The Duke, Odd Years, Minotaurs) and was recorded, mixed and mastered by Andy Magoffin (Constantines, By Divine Right, The Hidden Cameras). 

Alanna and her band launched their sophomore album Late at Night to critical acclaim. Late at Night was recorded in Toronto, ON at Candle Studios, Welland, ON at Tapes and Plates (Weather Station, Grey Kingdom), mixed by Dan Weston (Daniel Romano, City and Colour), mastered by Andy Magoffin (Great Lake Swimmers, Constantines) and will mark Missed Connection Records second release (MCR-002). 

"Late At Night" went on to be praised by CBC, Exclaim!, NOW Magazine, which eventually led the album to be #10 on the Earshot! College Folk Charts for the entire year!

Alanna Gurr will pull you in with her minimalist folk rock backed by her ever talented band, The Greatest State. Gurr’s strength in songwriting paired with her sweet and sultry voice are framed by the embellishments of twangy electric guitars, organ, and haunting backup vocals. Her latest album, Late At Night is a charming collection of tracks that channel the likes of Laura Marling, Kathleen Edwards and Angel Olsen.
